Certification

Charlies Auto Body takes great pride in providing quality repairs paired with unparalleled customer service. By joining with General Motors (GM), makers of Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, & Cadillac, we believe we can excel at both.

GM recently released their collision network. It invited shop to apply to see if they meet GM requirements for tools, training, equipment, and facility standards. We are proud to have been the first shop in the county to meet and even exceed, their requirements. We added to our previous facility standards all the additional investments GM Collision Repair Network required.

What really makes Charlie’s Auto Body the best equipped shop to repair your GM vehicle, is the equipment and training required by GM.

A lot of quality shops have your standard 2 post lifts, high pulling capacity frame machines, 3D structure measuring system, and heated enclosed paint booth, all of which is a requirement. However, GM asks shops to add equipment & training due to an increase in technology and safety standards in their modern vehicles. One example is the ability to measure paint thickness on both plastic and metal surfaces to ensure radars hidden behind those painted parts can correctly read through them. This can include your blind spot monitors, front and rear sensors, and cruise control radar. These are items that protect you and if not repaired correctly, can cause terrible safety issues.

General Motors also requires the use of software directly from GM to read your vehicle’s DTC’s (diagnostic trouble codes) due to the fact other systems, not using the GM software, may not properly detect an issue.

The members of our team are also required to complete over 30 hours of training to meet GM’s requirements, alongside continuous refresher training every year. GM’s training requirement is a level above what most manufacture certifications required. Structural weld testing is required before GM will allow a facility into their network. They require two technicians to take and pass a class that typically spans 6 to 8 hours. This ensures repairs critical to your vehicles crash safety are returned to pre-accident condition.
