Certification

Hyundai & KIA were one of the first Asian car manufacturers to offer a collision repair program to independent shops. This shows their commitment to their customers by trying to better the overall quality of repair and customer experience after a collision. Charlie’s Auto Body also made their repair programs one of our first certifications to align with.

To be able to participate in the Hyundai & KIA Recognized Collision Repair networks we had a 3rd party, contracted by Hyundai, inspect our facility to ensure we met all training and equipment standards. This inspection is also refreshed once a year to ensure our shop stays up to date as requirements change.

The list goes on and on for requirements, but to give a brief overview, they require shops to utilize a spot welder that meets their pressure and power specification, 3D frame measuring equipment that is constantly up to date & calibrated, and the ability to read diagnostic trouble codes stored in your vehicles computers, both before and after a repair. All of these items help make for a safer, higher quality repair by better replicating factory build techniques and identifying hidden damages in vehicle structures and computer modules.

Hyundai & KIA also requires facilities to complete advanced training to work on their vehicles. This includes the requirement for a repair facility to be iCar trained and hold “Gold” status with them. iCar is the leading education outlet for the collision industry. To be Gold status with iCar, a shop must meet minimum training requirements for each of their employees and update that training yearly.
